Rei Puta - ‘Peketua’, parāoa, pounamu, red sealing wax, waxed cord. This rei puta is carved from parāoa (sperm whale) jaw bone, depicting Peketua, an Atua who formed an egg from uku, gave it life and hatched the first tuatara.
