Kōuma - Tohorā, whale bone, waxed cord, 14cm.

This kōuma (breast plate pendant) is carved from whale bone in the shape of a hiku tohorā (whale tail), representing the tukana/teina relationship between the kauri and the tohorā, imbued with waewae tūpuna, unaunahi and kiri kauri patterns.
